Dear Friends: Now and again we hear about fellow collectors who are facing health, family losses and other troubling challenges, and those who have sadly passed away. As I'm aware of these issues I am putting them here on this page. Please keep our buttoning friends in mind and send good thoughts and prayers their way.
October 28, 2006: Joan Nathan, Orkney Island, Scotland: Joan has lost her brave struggle against cancer and although her physical body is leaving the planet, those who called Joan a friend will take comfort in knowing she may now join her lifelong companion, Hugo, the dog who she lost a few months ago. I have great memories of Joan over the years we have sold buttons together on the ButtonBytes and eBay. Her warm, sharing personality always came out strongly, even if our only contact with her was via e-mail. We had a day of remembrance on the ButtonBytes group and many touching stories were shared. The image below was put together by Joan's good friend Joss Howells, who has kept us all informed of Joan's health for several years now. Putting a face on a warm, lovely woman we all came to love. We have lost a cherished friend in Joan Nathan of "The Cottage", Burray, Orkney Island, Scotland. Goodbye dear lady.
Jean Ragland, Safety Harbor, Florida: Please say a prayer for Jean, she is struggling with a major health challenge. Please contact her at:

Barbara O., Texas: "ButtonBarb" has been struggling with a very rare and debilitating medical condition called osteonecrosis/avascular necrosis. It is a degenerative bone and/or vascular disorder which in the case of bones, causes them to crumble, with considerable pain associated with it. Barara's positive outlook on life has allowed her to stay strong in the face of this challenging condition and she has bravely undergone several operations with more to come. Please keep Barbara in your thoughts and prayers! UPDATE: Barb is in need of an expensive operation to help restore her bones, insurance will cover only a tiny portion of it. She is being aided by collectors who have donated buttons for sale on this site, please click Here: Love Our Friends to see buttons you can purchase with 100% going directly to Barb for her operation. Please keep in touch with Barb by sending cards, letters or e-mail to:
